Tamblingan Lake  is a lake located on the north slope of Mount Mortar, Munduk Village area, District of  Banjar, Buleleng regency, Bali. This lake is one of the three twin lakes that formed in a large caldera. To the east there is a row of Lake Buyan and Lake Beratan. Flanked by the surrounding jungle and the highlands because of its location in the environment of the lake make it air cool.

As one of the natural attractions, of Lake Road was not developed in the direction of modern tourism in order to preserve nature and the environment. The main attraction of this place is not only its natural charm, but also because of the many temples that save the history and development of civilization and culture of Bali in particular regarding the establishment and development of the Tamblingan Village .

Told in the century  10M  to 14M Tamblingan Lake is a residential neighborhood whose center is located at Mount Mortar south of the lake. For some reason people then move on to four different areas that were located adjacent to the area of the lake is still. The fourth village was then called the Catur Village, which means the four villages namely: Village Munduk, Gobleg, Gesing, and Umejero. The fourth village has a spiritual bond and have the responsibility and obligation to maintain the sanctity of the existing lake and the surrounding temples.

Tamblingan  name comes from two words in Bahasa Bali, namely Tamba means a drug, and Elingang spiritual means or ability to remember. Told in Lontar Kutara Kanda Purana Dewa Bangsul that people in the region is said to have exposed an epidemic outbreak. As a way out of a person is purified and then down to the small lake below the village to fetch water for the drug. Thanks to prayer and spiritual abilities he water is then used as medicine and can cure the villagers. Word of Tamba and Elingang  this is named Tamblingan.

Because of this civilization in the area of Tamblingan Lake  there are many temples. Pretend that include:

1. Pura Dalem Tamblingan
2. Pura Endek
3. Ulun Danu and Sang Hyang Kangin
4. Pura Sang Hyang Kawuh
5. Pura Gubug
6. Pura Tirta Mengening
7. Pura Naga Loka
8. Pura Engraving, steaming
9. Pura Embang
10. Temple Junior Weigh
11. Pura Batulepang etc.

It should be noted , Pura Pura Embang and Junior Weigh is a small temple area is built of stone “bebaturan”. It is estimated this temple is a relic of pre-Hindu masyaraakat 10M before the century had settled in the region.
